Summary: Remy meets the new girl. AU
She’s cute, he thinks. A little young but older than she looked. She’s the picture of professional except for the single streak of white through her brown hair. He wonders at that.
She catches him staring, and he continues his perusal shamelessly. Her eyes are a startling green, they are peering back into his unusual red and black eyes.
She’s not afraid, he wonders. If anything, there is curiosity, interest. He smiles at her, and she considers him a moment before grinning and looking away.
The elevator is gliding up slowly, and he wonders what floor she’ll stop at. He wonders who she is and why he’s never seen her in the apartment building before. He wonders if she has a boyfriend. She looks at him again, and he takes the opportunity presented.
“Hello, petite,” he drops in the French and speaks in his lazy Cajun slur. “I’m Remy Lebeau, live on the fourth floor. I don’t think I’ve seen you before, and I’d definitely remember.”
“You realize that sounded like a line, right?”
He internally thrills at the sweet Southern drawl of her voice. He hasn’t realized how much he’s missed that piece of home until just then.
“Maybe, but it’s still valid,” he shrugs and tilts his head.
“Hm. I moved in with my friend a week ago.”
“Neena with the crazy boyfriend?”
“He ain’t her boyfriend.”
“Sure he’s not. But he is crazy.”
She nods laconically. The elevator door opens on the third floor, and she steps out, sparing him a passing glance. He stops the door from closing with his foot and calls out to her.
“I didn’t catch your name.”
“I go by Rogue.”
She holds out her hand.
She’s wearing gloves, he notices. It’s middle of spring. It’s odd. Eccentric. She’s cute enough to make it work. He takes her hand, and it feels like suede. Expensive.
“I’ll see you ‘round, chere.”
“Ya just might.”
She’s got a nice smile, and he likes it. He decides as he’s riding up to his floor that he will make it a priority to see it more often.
